​The Grand Canal Way in Kildare follows peaceful towpaths past Hazelhatch Bridge, the historic Lyons Estate at Aylmer Bridge, and the vibrant village of Sallins.

Built during the canal boom of the 18th century, work began at Hazelhatch in 1756, and the route was completed in 1803.

The route features old locks, barge moorings and restored cottages, offering relaxed walking or cycling and opportunities for kayaking, barge rental or fishing.
