Embark on a scenic 16 km walking or cycling journey along the Arthur’s Way Heritage Trail through north-east County Kildare, tracing the footsteps of brewer Arthur Guinness.
The route begins where the Liffey and Rye rivers meet in Leixlip and passes the dramatic Leixlip Castle, parts of which date to 1172. Then on to Celbridge (his childhood home), the elegant Castletown House and the canal at Hazelhatch, before reaching Lyons Estate and finally the hill-top Oughterard Graveyard in Ardclough, his resting place.
The trail is family-friendly: allow 3–3½ hours walking or 1–1½ hours cycling.
