Wicklow Gaol tells the story of its prisoners through an interactive tour led by experienced actor guides. Pass through the ‘Gates of Hell’ to relive the 1798 United lrishman Rebellion, period dining with the notorious inmates, journey through the famine era to the 1916 Easter Rising and dramatic re-enactments of the lrish struggle for independence.
Visit the reconstructed ship that transported some of the 50,000 lrish people as convicts to Australia. Discover the inmates’ true stories from children to murderers. Lovers of the paranormal can enjoy a haunted night tour where prisoners will walk the corridors with you. If you are brave enough there is a ‘Sleep Over in the Gaol’ option!
