Alternatively known as the Monument of Light, The Dublin Spire is a large stainless steel monument measuring 121.2 metres (398 ft) in height. Designed by Ian Ritchie and completed in 2003, it is the tallest sculpture in the world.
The Spire is located on the site of Nelson’s Pillar on O’Connell Street, an equally famous Dublin landmark, which was destroyed by an IRA bombing in 1966. Visible from most places around Dublin City Centre, there are many bus tours operating nearby.
