A display of exquisite workmanship

The Casino Model Railway Museum offers a close-up look at the exquisite workmanship of Cyril Fry’s hand-crafted models. Delve into the extensive interactive displays giving detailed information about Irish rolling stock and the history of the Irish railways.

Visit the Casino Model Railway Museum to experience the iconic model railway collection crafted by Cyril Fry, now housed in the beautifully restored Casino cottage in the heart of Malahide village and just a 10-minute walk from Malahide Castle.

The Casino cottage, described as one of the finest thatched cottages in the country, has been a landmark in the picturesque village of Malahide for over 200 years.

Take an intriguing self-guided tour through this truly spectacular Model Railway Museum.

This cottage, now sensitively renovated, was built around the beginning of the 19th century by Richard Wogan Talbot. It is thought to have been a shooting lodge. It was designed as a Cottage Orné (“decorated cottage”), a rustic style which developed firstly in England out of the Italian picturesque style of painting in the 17th century. This style used shaped thatched roofs, elaborate woodwork, and the surrounding landscape to create a picturesque effect.
