Located in the Old Mariners Church, Dun Laoghaire, visitors can easily find this museum by looking for the building’s gothic spire, rising high above the West Pier and the Lexicon. In fact, the building itself is one of the museum’s greatest artefacts and is one of a few custom-built places of worship for sailors that still remains intact.
The comprehensive range of artefacts on display offer much to interest the visitor in Ireland’s rich Maritime heritage. The many interactive displays are particularly designed to accommodate the interests of younger visitors.
The museum is run by volunteers who are also happy to show visitors around and share some of their stories about the history of the museum and its artefacts.
