800 years of history

Malahide Castle & Gardens is one of the oldest castles in Ireland, and is set on 260 acres of land. Located just 10 minutes from Dublin Airport and only 13km from Dublin city centre, this magnificent and historic 12th century castle was home to the Talbot family for over 800 years. Explore the history of Malahide Castle & Gardens by looking at the lives, experiences and adventures of this great family.

Enjoy meandering around the caverned exhibition where the history of the Talbot Family (and their ghostly residents!) is retold, before embarking on a guided tour throughout the reception rooms of this magnificent landmark. Ornamental gardens adjoin the castle covering about 22 acres.
